On March 7, 2015, a group of Japanese students led by Hamada Toshisuke from Aichi Institute of Technology arrived on Sipailou Campus of Southeast University to participate in a 2-week exchange program held by SFL (the School of Foreign Languages), aiming to promote Sino-Japanese cultural exchange and improve the students’ Chinese language competence .
With the help of the Department of International Cooperation, the faculty members and students from the Department of Japanese of SFL had made a thoughtful arrangement for the guests in advance, including accommodation, classrooms and training schedule. On the second day, the Japanese students visited Sipailou Campus and communicated with the Chinese students from the Department of Japanese.
On March 9, these Japanese students got down to study Chinese, including Pinyin and dialogue practice. In the course of the learning, they were overwhelmed by the charm of Chinese culture and language.
Besides classroom learning activities, the 2-week program included visits to Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, Nanjing Museum, Nanjing Confucian Temple as well as Yangzhou Slender West Lake, which aimed to help the Japanese students to experience the Chinese culture and learn Chinese in the context.
This short-term Chinese training program is part of a long-term cooperation between Aichi Institute of Technology and Southeast University for promoting the Sino-Japanese youth communication. Language is the important carrier of cultures and a bridge of International communication, the short-term training has aroused the Japanese students’ passion for the Chinese language and increased their understanding of the Chinese culture.
