On December 8, 2014, the signature campaign of “Zijin Flower of Peace” in memory of the victims of the Dec. 13 Nanjing Massacre, sponsored by Nanjing Radio and TV Station and organized by the Junior-class Party Branch of SEU Foreign Languages School, was started in front of Taoyuan Canteen on SEU Jiulonghu Campus around 11:00 am.
The campaign won an active response from the university’s teachers and students as well as party members, who stopped what they are doing to join it. To keep in mind the national humiliation and work harder, they solemnly put on the purple stickers and signed their names on the purple banner, expressing their grief for the victims of Nanjing Massacre. Nanjing TV interviewed some members of the Junior-class Party Branch, who gave their strong support to establishment of the National Memorial Day, which, as they asserted, does claim our responsibility to never forget the tragic history. The signed campaign banner will be sent to the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall at Jiang Dongmen for collection.
The signature campaign was organized for the arrival of the first National Memorial Day for the Dec. 13 Nanjing Massacre, in memory of the 300,000 victims in the event as well as those slaughtered by the Japanese invaders during the Anti-Japanese War. This activity has given our students the chance to know more about the tragic event in Nanjing history for promotion of their sense of social responsibility, urging them never to forget the history and our revolutionary martyrs, and to cherish peace and future for a better world.
