The three winners are qualified for the national final next year, representing Jiangsu Province.

The “21st Century Cup” National English Speaking Competition is sponsored by China Daily. Started in 1996, the competition aims to select excellent Chinese students for participation in international speaking competitions for China. The Jiangsu-division final of the 20th 21st Century Coca-Cola Cup National English Speaking Competition was hosted by NUPT School of Foreign Languages. Nineteen universities, including Nanjing University, Southeast University, Nanjing Normal University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Soochow University, China Pharmaceutical University, Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing University of Technology and Yangzhou University, have sent their contestants to the final.

Intense training and careful selection were conducted at SEU School of Foreign Languages before the competition. Zhao Qimei, who stood out from the rest in the debate team, was then chosen to enter the final for the school.

Zhao outshone all the other contestants in the three rounds of Prepared Speech, Impromptu Speech and Q & A, and claimed the title of the final in the end.

Our teachers of the speech and debate training team are fully prepared to send more outstanding students to the English speaking competition for the coming year of 2015, in an effort to enhance the oral proficiency of all our students.
