On the day of the 69th anniversary of the United Nations (United Nations Day 2014), the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon presented the UN 21 Award to prominent staffs. Dr. He Yong, the adjunct professor of School of Foreign Languages (SFL) of Southeast University (SEU), is one of the five award winners. Ban Ki-moon spoke highly of his outstanding contribution to this project.
Dr. He Yong, leader of Chinese Mandarin Group, has presided over Chinese language project for more than 10 years. The UN Chinese language project, starting in 2003, is of great significance in offering convenience for diplomatic officers to learn and understand Chinese culture and improving the use of Chinese as one of the official languages in UN.
UN 21 Award was founded by the former UN Secretary General Ghali, aiming at commending those UN staffs of high working efficiency, innovation, and outstanding performance. The winners are elected from hundreds of candidates. And UN 21 Award will be renamed as the Secretary-General Prize next year.
Being the adjunct professor of SFL.SEU, Dr. He Yong has delivered many lectures to undergraduates and postgraduates of SFL.
